Human In The Monster

If there is one thing the Witcher series is filled with it is complex and impacting decisions.  One of those decisions that wasn't complex for me was deciding to lift the curse of the wight in the Witcher 3 Blood and Wine DLC.  I remember when I was first tasked to get the brew and saliva glands from the wight I assumed that it was going to be a monster hunt.  However, as soon as I pulled up to the house and saw all the writings of the curse on the walls I began to wonder is this a creature I really want to kill?  I then started wandering the house, mainly to look for loot, and slowly coming across letters and clues about this curse and how this women named Marlene was effected by it.  Once I finished searching the house I came across so many items referring to this person I became very curious about what this creature looked like.
Once I entered the conveniently place cabinet, or cupboard, I knew I would finally see the creature.  After a short load time I saw it, and not only was I not freaked out or scared by it, I actually felt sorry for the creature.  To me it didn't look like a threat or dangerous at all. The sounds the creature made I found funny, the way it moved I almost thought it was clumsy, and the way it looked just made me feel even more sorry for the person (Marlene) who was cursed.  At a certain point the wight moves towards you and Geralt firmly grasps his sword.  I was actually hoping not to fight the creature because I felt so bad for it.
Thankfully, it gave me the option to lift the curse and without hesitation I chose it.  As soon as Geralt emerged from his hiding place you can clearly see how scared and freaked out the wight becomes.  Luckily Geralt is able to talk it down and convince it that he is there to help.  After both people take a seat at the table you have three options to choose from, you can either eat with spoons, switch spoons, or eat without spoons. After listening to the words of the curse five or six times, I chose to eat without spoons.  Basically you and the wight to just drink straight from your dishes, After Geralt feels sick he tells the wight to look at it's reflection.
The wight then sees its face in the dish and its hand starts glowing.  Instantly the wight gets wide eyed and freaks out, and Geralt being effected by the brew he drank, fails to stop the wight from running past him and out of the house.  (which I think they did because they didn't want to design a transformation, shame really, I think it would have made for a better experience). Anyway, you then have to track down and see what happened to the wight.  Once you finally catch up to it you find it transformed into an old women.  Slightly scared by buy Geralt she tells him that she needs to eat and Geralt takes her to his home where food and bed rest is prepared for you.  Once she recovers her strength you can tell her to start a new life in town, or (as I chose), you can let her stay and she becomes your cook.
I have to say that this actually most rewarding quests I have done.  I say that because even though you help many other people in the Witcher series you really don't get to see the impact you make on their lives.  With this quest you do and to me it feels very great to see that.  After all the bounties, some Awkward quests, (especially in the Blood and Wine DLC), and tons of fighting, you do a quest where you not just make a big impact but you don't even have to draw a blade.  While I am a big fan of action games it is still fun to not have to fight every once in a while.  For me this is one of the best quests in the game.
